Part A:
Essential Screenwriting - 1-day event
This class focuses on the fundamentals of screenwriting with respect to feature narrative films: three-act structure, character arc and character conflict in drama. It includes basic history on the development of drama in Western theater and film. Part of the intent of this class is to illustrate to writers the idea that all films are, to some extent, the same process, no matter the genre.

Part B:
Advanced Screenwriting - 1-day event
Prerequisite: Essential Screenwriting
This class, which is in part a workshop, deals with scene structure: dialogue, second-act conflicts and complications; correct formatting and presentation of scripts; and other feature-film matters. Students are required to submit a treatment for a feature film, the first 10 pages of which will be read and discussed by the participants.

Part C:
Screenwriting Workshop - two-day weekend event
Prerequisites: Essential Screenwriting and Advanced Screenwriting
Prospective students submit 10 pages of a screenplay and treatment of the entire script. Ten students from those submitting will then be chosen to participate in the workshop. Workshop members will each submit a completed full-length, feature-film script for analysis and discussion by the class. Information about submitting screenplays to contests and how to be a writer committed to earning a living in the film business are part of the workshop.
